About IBE Performance — built for the part of sport that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.
Every athlete trains the visible side of performance — the body, the skill, the speed, the strength, the strategy. But the moments that decide performance often happen internally: a mistake, a momentum shift, a bad call, a pressure situation, a confidence drop, a conversation that needs to happen, a moment when an athlete has to respond instead of react.
IBE Performance exists to help athletes, teams, coaches, and families develop the internal systems needed to compete with confidence, composure, focus, communication, and purpose. This is not hype. This is not empty motivation. This is athlete development with structure.
Measure the mind. Train the edge. Build the person.

The Gap in Athlete Development
The body gets trained. The mind gets left to figure it out.
Athletes are taught how to lift, run, shoot, throw, defend, execute, and compete. But many are never taught how to handle the moments that test them most.
How to reset after a mistake. How to stay composed under pressure. How to communicate when emotions are high. How to rebuild confidence after struggle. How to stay locked in when distractions show up. How to lead when things are not going well.
The problem is not a lack of toughness. The problem is a lack of training. Too often, the mental side of sport is treated like something athletes are supposed to naturally have. IBE believes it should be developed with the same intention as any physical or technical skill.
The mental side of sport should have a system.
What IBE Stands For
Three commitments. One system.
01
Measure It
Athletes need awareness before adjustment. IBE helps identify the patterns influencing confidence, focus, emotional control, communication, preparation, and response under pressure. Not to label athletes. To understand them.
02
Train It
Mental performance has to become practical. IBE turns awareness into tools athletes can use before competition, during pressure, after mistakes, in difficult conversations, and throughout the demands of a season. The goal is simple: build skills that transfer.
03
Develop Through It
Sport is more than performance. IBE uses the demands of sport to help athletes develop discipline, confidence, leadership, self-awareness, resilience, responsibility, and identity beyond the scoreboard. The athlete matters. The person matters more.
The IBE Development Model

Why IBE Exists
More than talent. More than motivation.
IBE Performance was created because athletes need more than talent, training, and motivational advice. They need structure for the moments that challenge who they are.
The athlete who spirals after one mistake. The team that loses communication under pressure. The player who looks confident in practice but tightens up in games. The leader who does not know how to speak up. The parent who wants to help but does not want to add pressure. The coach who knows the mental side matters but needs a clearer way to develop it.
IBE exists for those moments.
We help athletes build the internal skills that support external performance. Confidence that is trained. Focus that is practiced. Composure that is repeatable. Communication that is intentional. Leadership that is developed. Resilience that is built through action.
The goal is not to create perfect athletes. The goal is to develop athletes who know how to respond.
Founder
Philip Coffman
Founder · Mental Performance Coach
Philip Coffman founded IBE Performance to give athletes, teams, and coaches a structured way to develop the mental side of sport. His work is grounded in years inside competitive athletic environments — coaching across age groups and watching the same internal performance gaps repeat across sports and rosters.
He holds a B.S. from Miami University in Sport Leadership and Management with graduate-level study in Sport Psychology. IBE is built from that field experience — practical, repeatable, and designed to be used by a 14-year-old before practice or a head coach in a film room.
IBE Performance is not clinical therapy, psychiatry, medical care, or licensed sport psychology. The work is educational, developmental, and performance-based.
Who IBE Serves
Built for the people who shape the athlete.
Athletes
Build confidence, focus, composure, and pressure response. Train the internal skills that support what shows up on game day.
Teams
Develop shared standards for communication, leadership, and culture. Turn pressure moments into repeatable team behavior.
Coaches
A structured framework for developing the mental side of your roster — practical tools, not theory, that fit inside the season.
Parents
Support your athlete through pressure, setbacks, and growth without adding to it. Language and structure that help, not crowd.
Sport will always test athletes.
Pressure will come.
Mistakes will happen.
Confidence will shift.
Emotions will rise.
Adversity will show up.
IBE Performance exists to help athletes and teams prepare for those moments before they arrive. Not with hype. With a system.
Measure the mind. Train the edge. Build the person.
